YouTube has introduced new updates to its YouTube Shorts service aimed at strengthening short-form content and expanding image-based features.
According to details issued by the company, content creators will now be able to publish posts in the form of image carousels, containing up to ten photographs which viewers may browse by swiping on the screen.
The new system allows text to be added to each image individually, alongside the option of including background music of up to fifteen seconds, increasing visual engagement within the platform.
YouTube has stated that users will be able to select music from a licensed library, or from its own audio collection, as well as using the “Dream Track” artificial intelligence tool where available.
The move is intended to support creators in presenting more varied visual storytelling within the Shorts feed, while keeping pace with competition from other social media platforms.
The company stated that the update may serve as a useful tool for creators and artists in presenting promotional and creative material in a more accessible format for audiences.
