The Pakistan Monument and Lahore Fort were illuminated in the red, white and blue colours of the United States flag to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The illumination formed part of a global initiative commemorating the historic occasion, with several prominent landmarks around the world taking part in the visual tribute.

A statement said the occasion reflects nearly 80 years of partnership between Pakistan and the United States, founded on shared interests, prosperity and cooperation in regional security.
It added that both countries look forward to continuing cooperation and building a future based on their longstanding partnership.
Marriyum Aurangzeb greets US on Independence Day
Speaking at an official ceremony, Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has extended congratulations to the American people and the United States government on the occasion of Independence Day.

She said relations between Pakistan and the United States are built on trust and peace. Aurangzeb said the two countries continue to cooperate in technology, investment, climate change, tourism and diplomatic relations.
She said Pakistan and the United States have developed closer ties, adding that diplomacy has proved effective in recent months. She said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir worked for peace.
Aurangzeb said the United States is recognised for its leadership in innovation, technology and education. She added that American private sector companies are moving towards investment in Punjab.
