England overcame India in a high-scoring T20 international at Old Trafford, Manchester, winning by four wickets in a closely contested match.
India, batting first, posted 190 for 7 from their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Abhishek Sharma, who made 43 from 24 balls, while debutant Vaibhav Sooryavanshi contributed 14 on his debut before being stumped. Ishan Kishan added 49, Shreyas Iyer scored 37, and Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 24.

England’s bowling attack applied early pressure. Sam Curran claimed three wickets for 33 runs, while Arshdeep Singh also took three wickets to disrupt India’s top order. Liam Dawson, Will Jacks, and Jofra Archer each took a wicket.

Bethell 76 not out
In reply, England lost Phil Salt and Jos Buttler early. Harry Brook made 39 off a quick passage of play, before Jacob Bethell produced an unbeaten 76 and guided the chase, earning the man of the match award. Tom Banton contributed 39, while Curran finished the match with a decisive stroke as England reached 191 for 6 in 19 overs.
England now lead the five-match series 1–0.
