Apple’s upcoming hardware lineup may face delays as global supply constraints continue to impact production timelines.
The next-generation MacBook Pro and Mac Studio are now likely to arrive later than previously expected.
A global memory chip shortage could delay the launch of Apple’s next MacBook Pro and Mac Studio models, according to recent reports. Insights shared by Mark Gurman suggest that production challenges are forcing Apple to adjust its release schedule.
Earlier expectations pointed to a late 2026 launch for the MacBook Pro, but the timeline now appears to be shifting further.
The upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, expected to feature a touchscreen for the first time, are now more likely to launch in early 2027 rather than late 2026.
This delay signals a notable shift in Apple’s roadmap, especially as the device is expected to bring one of the biggest upgrades in the MacBook lineup in years.
Major upgrades planned for MacBook Pro
The new MacBook Pro models are rumored to include several high-end features, including:
- M6 Pro and M6 Max chips
- OLED display technology
- A thinner, redesigned body
- Dynamic Island integration
- A touch-friendly interface in macOS 27
There are also indications that Apple may introduce a new “MacBook Ultra” branding for these premium devices.
Meanwhile, the next Mac Studio is now expected to launch around October 2026, instead of mid-year as previously anticipated.
The desktop is likely to feature M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips. The current generation includes a mix of M4 Max and M3 Ultra processors, as Apple did not release an M4 Ultra chip.
No significant design changes are expected for the upcoming Mac Studio model.
