The Meteorological Department has warned of a severe heatwave in most parts of the country from tomorrow, with temperatures likely to remain significantly above normal in several cities.
According to the forecast, different parts of Pakistan may experience heatwave conditions from June 7 to June 12, while some areas could see temperatures rise by up to 7°C above normal.
The Met Department said a heatwave is likely in different parts of the country from June 7 to 12. During this period, temperatures may remain 4°C to 6°C above normal in several regions.
Authorities have warned that the heat could become intense in some cities, especially in Punjab and Islamabad.
Islamabad may see temperatures 7°C above normal
According to the Met Department, Islamabad is likely to experience heatwave conditions from June 8 to 10. Temperatures in the federal capital may rise up to 7°C above normal.
The department said Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and Gujrat may record temperatures between 41°C and 44°C from June 8 to 10.
Severe heatwave forecast for Punjab
A severe heatwave alert has been issued across Punjab from June 8 to June 11. The Met Department said temperatures in various districts of Punjab may rise up to 48°C.
The department warned that temperatures in different parts of the province may remain up to 7°C above normal. From June 8 to 11, Lahore, Okara, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali and Jhang may experience temperatures as high as 48°C.
Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal and Pakpattan are also expected to face intense heatwave conditions. Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Layyah, Bhakkar and Kot Addu are also likely to remain in the grip of extreme heat.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa heatwave from June 8
The Met Department has predicted heatwave conditions in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from June 8 to 11. Temperatures in the province are expected to remain significantly above normal during this period.
Residents have been advised to take precautions as the heat intensifies.
Sindh, Balochistan to face heat from June 7
Different parts of Sindh and Balochistan are also expected to experience heatwave conditions from June 7 to 12. According to the forecast, temperatures in these areas may rise up to 6°C above normal.
The hot spell is expected to affect both urban and rural areas across the two provinces. The weather in Karachi is likely to remain unusually hot from June 8 to June 12.
The Met Department said the temperature in the city may reach 43°C during this period. Hot and dry winds are also expected in Karachi, increasing discomfort for residents.
Authorities warn of intense conditions
The forecast indicates that the coming days may bring one of the more intense hot spells of the season across Pakistan.
With temperatures expected to rise sharply in Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Karachi, citizens have been urged to remain alert and avoid unnecessary exposure to extreme heat.
The Meteorological Department has advised people to follow weather updates and take precautionary measures during the heatwave period.
