Microsoft has begun automatically rolling out Windows 11 25H2 to more computers, targeting devices that are not managed by IT departments.
The move comes as the current version approaches its end-of-support timeline.
Microsoft confirmed that devices running Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro editions will start receiving the 25H2 update automatically.
This rollout applies specifically to “unmanaged devices,” meaning personal systems not controlled by organizations or IT teams.
The company said users will still have some flexibility, including the option to choose when to restart their device or delay the update.
Deadline driving upgrade push
According to Microsoft, Windows 11 version 24H2 will officially reach the end of updates on October 13, 2026.
After this date, affected systems will no longer receive:
- Security updates
- Bug fixes
- Time zone updates
- Technical support
This makes upgrading essential for users who want continued protection against emerging cybersecurity threats.

Microsoft has described Windows 11 25H2 as the latest version of its operating system, now available to all eligible devices.
