The Punjab government has barred the heads of all government hospitals from independently granting leave to doctors intending to travel abroad.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab Health Department, all such requests will now require prior approval from the chief minister.
As per the new policy, doctors serving in government hospitals must submit their leave applications at least one month in advance if they intend to travel overseas. The final decision on such applications will rest solely with the chief minister.
The notification emphasizes that no hospital administrator, medical superintendent, or principal will be allowed to grant or forward such leave requests without going through the proper channel.
