Adviser to Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be unable to maintain his political position following the recent conflict, claiming that India suffered heavy losses while Pakistan emerged with honour under the leadership of its armed forces.
Speaking during Samaa TV’s current affairs show, 'Redline with Talat Hussain', Sanaullah stated, “The real loser in Marka-e-Haq is Narendra Modi. He will have to bear the political consequences of the defeat at the hands of Pakistan.”
He credited Pakistan's success in the conflict to divine support and the unity between the nation, government, and military, saying, “Allah Almighty made us successful in the war. Modi and India have suffered losses. Every person in the nation, the government, and the armed forces has been successful.”
He especially praised Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, stating that the country's dignity and defence were safeguarded under his command, along with the prime minister and president. “May Allah bless Field Marshal Asim Munir. Under his leadership, along with the president and the prime minister, Pakistan maintained its honour,” he said. "Allah Almighty has made Field Marshal Asim Munir successful.
He further cautioned that if Pakistan had not defended itself effectively against Indian aggression, the field marshal would have been a bigger target.
Sanaullah took aim at critics of the military leadership, saying those who campaigned against the army chief had “suffered losses they can no longer deny.” He warned political opponents, especially the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), against attacking the military’s leadership. “Now how will they insult the field marshal?” he questioned, adding, “If the PTI continues to criticize the army, it will harm its own political standing. The PTI has suffered irreparable losses."
On KP protests and right to protest
Commenting on recent demonstrations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rana Sanaullah said the protests were peaceful and against corruption, mainly led by PPP workers and the local populace. He criticized the authorities' response, calling the shelling and baton charge “inappropriate”.
He emphasized the need for political balance in upholding the right to protest, stating, “If the PTI demands the right to protest, then others must be granted the same. But expecting the PTI to protest peacefully is difficult.”
Offer of dialogue to PTI still open
Rana Sanaullah reiterated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has offered talks to the PTI twice in the National Assembly, and that the offer still stands. “The prime minister said if the PTI wants dialogue, he is even ready to come to the speaker’s chamber. That offer has not been withdrawn till today.”
“If they approach the speaker’s chamber and say they want to talk, the prime minister will honour his word,” he affirmed.
Call for Punjab Local Body Elections
The adviser also addressed domestic governance issues, particularly in Punjab, where he called for immediate local government elections. “There is no better time than now. The leadership of the party and Maryam Nawaz will soon decide on holding these elections,” Sanaullah stated.
