The Iranian delegation lodged a strong protest over 'threatening' statements by United States President Donald Trump.
According to Iranian media, the second round of talks between the United States and Iran is under way at the Swiss resort of Bürgenstock to discuss the implementation of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding. The Iranian side formally registered its protest with the American delegation.
The report stated that following four-party talks, separate discussions took place between the Iranian and Qatari delegations. In the wake of President Donald Trump's recent threats, Iran is considering a range of options.
Meanwhile, US broadcaster CNN, citing diplomatic sources, reported that the first round of negotiations covered Lebanon, the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear stockpiles.
The report added that discussions also focused on the framework for a 60-day negotiating period. The parties exchanged views in a clear and candid manner.
