The Balochistan Assembly has approved the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, with a total outlay of Rs1.079 trillion, by majority vote.
The assembly session was held under the chairmanship of Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai. A total of 98 demands for grants were presented to the House in phases for approval of the new financial year's budget. Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani placed all demands relating to development and non-development expenditure before the assembly.
The House approved 53 demands for grants worth Rs797.809 billion for non-development expenditure, while 45 demands for grants amounting to Rs291 billion were approved for development projects.
No cut motion was moved by the opposition against any demand for grant, resulting in the budget approval process being completed within a short period.
Addressing the budget session, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti thanked his leadership, coalition partners and the opposition. He said the allied parties had supported the government during difficult circumstances, while the government had taken the opposition's criticism as constructive guidance.
Earlier, the chief minister outlined the main features of the new fiscal year's budget and said there would be no negotiations with terrorists on the condition of breaking the state.
