Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Switzerland along with a high-level delegation to participate in US–Iran technical-level talks.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has also reached the venue as Pakistan steps into a central mediating role in the diplomatic process.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached Switzerland with a senior delegation to attend the ongoing US–Iran technical-level talks in Bürgenstock.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the visit is a continuation of efforts linked to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this month.
The Prime Minister is expected to take part in key discussions aimed at advancing implementation of the agreement and supporting regional stability.
Field Marshal Asim Munir joins talks
Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has also arrived in Switzerland.
He is expected to participate in the technical-level discussions as part of Pakistan’s mediation role under the Islamabad MoU framework.
Officials said both civilian and military leadership are present to support coordination during the high-level diplomatic engagement.
Pakistan’s mediating role
The Foreign Office confirmed that Pakistan will continue to facilitate and support the implementation process between the United States and Iran.
A spokesperson said the Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with participating delegations during the Bürgenstock discussions.
These meetings, according to officials, are expected to help ensure effective progress on commitments outlined in the agreement.
The United States delegation is already in Switzerland, including Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and presidential adviser Jared Kushner.
US Vice President JD Vance has also arrived and is expected to remain in Switzerland during the talks.
On the Iranian side, a high-level delegation led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has reached the venue.
The delegation includes Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, senior security officials, and central bank representatives.
