A new case of mpox has been reported in Karachi, confirming the infection in a 35-year-old resident of Landhi's Muhabbat Nagar.
The patient was admitted to the isolation ward of the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital and Research Centre (SIDHRC) in NIPA. According to hospital administration, the patient had visited NIPA Hospital just the day before. There is no history of travel associated with this individual, further confirmed by the administration. Test results from a PCR test indicated the presence of mpox in the patient.
To date, a total of eight cases of mpox have been reported at the (SIDHRC) in NIPA, contributing to an overall count of 11 cases in Karachi.
