Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said on Wednesday that a foreign hand was involved in efforts to undermine the Kashmir cause.
Speaking in the National Assembly, the federal minister said the abolition of seats reserved for refugees was not possible and warned that removing those seats would damage the Kashmir cause.
He said the interests of the Kashmir cause were being targeted and alleged that a foreign hand was involved in attempts to weaken it.
Tarar also said subsidised electricity and flour were being provided in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the matter had already been decided by the Azad Jammu andKashmir Supreme Court .
Separately, addressing the Senate, Rana Sanaullah said the government had held two days of negotiations with the Action Committee in Muzaffarabad.
He said a written agreement had been reached on 37 of the committee’s 38 demands and that both sides had signed the accord.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart said the prime minister had assured the provision of funds and the implementation of the agreed demands. However, he said the Action Committee had sought the abolition of 12 refugee seats and had also objected to refugees being appointed ministers.
He said the government had informed the committee that abolishing refugee seats was not within its administrative authority.
Sanaullah said Kashmiri refugees had left their homes and settled in Pakistan, adding that removing their reserved seats would undermine the character of the Jammu and Kashmir movement.
