Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed that Tehran is neither stepping away from conflict readiness nor diplomatic engagement.
His remarks come as regional tensions escalate following recent exchanges with Israel.
The statement underscores Iran’s dual-track approach of defence and negotiation.
Iran’s position on war, diplomacy
President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran’s top priority remains “national security and the peace of our people,” stressing that the country will respond firmly to any threat.
“We will defend the rights of the nation with authority and will not retreat in the face of any threat,” he said in a post on X.
He added that “diplomacy and defence are the two wings of national power,” insisting that Iran has “neither abandoned the field nor the negotiating table.”
Military warning after Israel tensions
Earlier, Iran’s armed forces issued a strong warning to Israel, saying its recent operations were a response that the “Zionist regime and its supporters must learn a lesson.”
The military statement, carried by state media, said its operations had now been halted.
However, it warned that if “aggressions and acts of mischief continue,” including in southern Lebanon, Iran would respond with “much more severe and crushing actions than before.”
The latest developments come amid tit-for-tat strikes between Iran and Israel.
Iran has linked its military response to earlier Israeli attacks, which reportedly included strikes that caused explosions in Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan.
Tensions further escalated after Israel targeted the southern suburbs of Lebanon’s capital, intensifying fears of a wider regional confrontation.
