Pakistani security agencies have arrested and secured convictions against three individuals accused of espionage linked to India’s intelligence network, in what officials describe as a major counterintelligence success.
According to security sources, three individuals involved in espionage activities for India’s intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) were arrested and later sentenced after the completion of legal proceedings.
Cases were registered against the accused under the Official Secrets Act, and courts handed down sentences following due process.
Investigators revealed that the accused were lured through “honey trap” tactics on social media, where they were reportedly manipulated by women allegedly linked to RAW. The suspects remained in constant contact with these individuals, which eventually led to their recruitment for espionage activities.
Confessions reveal sensitive information leaks
During the investigation, the accused confessed to sharing sensitive information with RAW. According to sources, they provided this information in exchange for money and interactions with women on specific social media platforms.
Security officials said the accused received payments through multiple channels, including digital and cryptocurrency wallets and bank transfers.
These transactions were used to facilitate and sustain the espionage activities.
Sources confirmed that the three individuals hailed from Narowal, Bahawalpur, and Neelum district in Azad Jammu and Kashmir Their arrests followed detailed surveillance and intelligence operations.
Security agencies step up vigilance
Officials said security agencies are working round the clock to counter both internal and external threats. The successful operation highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle espionage networks operating within the country.
Defense experts have warned that India is increasingly using honey traps and financial incentives to exploit innocent citizens through social media. They urged the public to remain cautious of suspicious online interactions and avoid sharing sensitive information.
Experts also pointed out that evidence of Indian operatives and espionage attempts targeting sensitive information in Pakistan has surfaced in the past. They stressed the need for continued vigilance to prevent such incidents.
Public urged to stay alert
Authorities and analysts alike have called on citizens to be aware of foreign intelligence tactics, especially those involving social media platforms.
