Pakistan has expressed its resolve to make the Islamabad Talks yield lasting peace.
Sources divulged on Thursday that a high-level consultative meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, sources said. Senior military and civilian leadership participated in an informal consultative session.
The consultations included detailed discussions regarding the forthcoming Islamabad Talks, according to sources. In the meeting held yesterday, Ishaq Dar and Mohsin Naqvi were also present.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and the Foreign Secretary took part in the session, sources confirmed. Participants expressed their determination to ensure the success of the Islamabad talks.
Pakistan’s positive and constructive role in the ceasefire has been widely praised at the international level, attendees added. "This opportunity for peace must not be lost," participants stressed.
Participants paid full tribute to Field Marshal for his key role in facilitating the ceasefire.
Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz received a briefing regarding the venue of the talks. The prime minister was briefed on key locations including the Foreign Office.
Arrangements for the arrival and movement of distinguished guests were also presented to the prime minister. PM Shehbaz conducted visits to the venue of the talks and other relevant locations.
Moreover, the interior minister and other concerned officials accompanied the prime minister. The prime minister instructed that no lapses occur in the arrangements for the guests’ arrival.
