According to the Foreign Office, regional peace and stability were among the main topics discussed during Yu Xiaoyong’s visit.
The spokesperson said that the Afghan issue had already been addressed in last Thursday’s briefing, where officials confirmed that the matter was discussed during diplomatic interactions.
He reiterated that Pakistan and China maintain continuous consultation on regional developments, particularly those affecting stability in Afghanistan and the broader region.
A couple of days ago, China had urged Afghanistan and Pakistan to resolve their disputes through dialogue and consultation, warning that the continued use of force could worsen tensions and threaten regional stability.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had made the remarks during a phone call with Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, according to a statement released by China’s foreign ministry.
During the conversation, Wang stressed that the issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan could only be resolved through dialogue and consultation, not military action.
He had urged both sides to remain calm, exercise restraint, and hold face-to-face talks as soon as possible, adding that an immediate ceasefire was essential to prevent the situation from escalating further.
