The Punjab government has launched the Climate Leadership Development Internship Program to actively involve youth in environmental protection.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that the program will provide practical experience and professional exposure to young participants across the province.
The internship program aims to empower youth to contribute to environmental improvement while gaining practical skills. Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 60,000 and a government-issued internship certificate upon completing the three-month program.
To promote gender inclusivity, 50% of seats are reserved for female students, ensuring broader participation in environmental initiatives.
Practical exposure and certification
Participants will gain hands-on experience working with officers of the Environment Protection Authority and the Environmental Policy Unit. They will also have opportunities to learn modern environmental management systems and obtain UNESCO certification, enhancing their professional credentials.
The program uses an automated merit system allowing interns to represent their respective districts, ensuring fair selection across Punjab.
