The government has withdrawn the temporary reduction in speed limits on motorways and national highways introduced under the austerity policy, restoring the earlier limits.
The motorway police officials have stated that the speed limit for cars and light transport vehicles has been restored to 120 kilometres per hour. The limit for public service vehicles and heavy transport vehicles has also been restored to 110 kilometres per hour.
A spokesperson stated that on national highways, the previous speed limits for cars, LTVs, PSVs and HTVs have likewise been reinstated. The new decision has come into immediate effect. Drivers have been directed to ensure full compliance with traffic laws and safety regulations during travel.
