The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has tightened security measures to safeguard its sensitive data amid the threat of cyber attacks.
According to the report, advanced security controls across the infrastructure of the FBR and Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited are fully operational. A modern protection system has also been installed at the data centre of the PRAL head office.
The process of enforcing the security system at FBR House and the Karachi data centre is under way. A written report on data security steps has been placed before the relevant standing committee.
Geo-fencing controls have also been enforced to block internet traffic originating from hostile countries. Real-time monitoring of networks and applications has been strengthened under the supervision of the Security Operations Centre.
he report submitted to the standing committee states that the security system remains on high alert to ensure immediate action in case of any suspicious activity. Only specific internet-based applications receive access in line with business requirements. Strict restrictions have also been placed on anonymous traffic arriving through Tor and unauthorised VPN browsers.
