The Presidency has constituted a high-level committee to investigate alleged irregularities at the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD).
According to an official notification issued by the Presidency, the President of Pakistan, in his capacity as chancellor of PIFD, approved the formation of the committee. The panel will be headed by the chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), with the HEC’s executive director and a representative of the Presidency Secretariat serving as members.
The committee will conduct a detailed visit to the institution and examine allegations of irregularities, administrative lapses and mismanagement highlighted by the Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training.
Under the notification, the committee has been authorized to co-opt additional members if required. It will also review matters related to the assignment of charge to the acting vice chancellor.
The panel will submit a comprehensive inquiry report along with its recommendations to the chancellor upon completion of its investigation.
