The federal government has granted approval for lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery technology for initial localisation.
Under the chairmanship of special assistant to the prime minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar, a policy dialogue on lithium-ion batteries was held, during which approval was granted for lithium-iron-phosphate battery technology for initial localisation. Haroon Akhtar said that partnerships with the private sector and international investors represent the future of sustainable energy.
At the meeting chaired by Haroon Akhtar, a detailed review was conducted of the National Lithium-Iron Battery Manufacturing Policy for the period 2026 to 2031.
An approval was granted for lithium-iron-phosphate battery technology for initial localisation. The Special Assistant on Industries and Production instructed the EDB to integrate the new-generation energy storage policy into national energy security.
He emphasised that it is essential to link the energy storage policy to national energy security. The policy has been prepared with the support of federal and provincial ministries, industry, universities, and international experts.
