The National Dialogue Committee has decided to convene a large meeting of politicians, lawyers and intellectuals.
According to details surfaced on Saturday, in a bid to bring down the political temperature in the country, the National Dialogue Committee has announced another important move. The Committee’s national-level conference will take place in Islamabad next week, with the venue and timing finalised.
Invitations will go to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI). Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Awami National Party (ANP) and other political parties will also receive invitations. The National Dialogue Committee will extend a special invitation to Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP)
Lawyers, parliamentarians, intellectuals and technocrats will present their views on the political situation. Fawad Chaudhry, Imran Ismail and Mahmood Moulvi have begun contacts with political leaders to extend invitations. The conference aims to find a way out of the political crisis and to build harmony among national political parties.
Chaudhry said that bringing together all schools of thought on national matters is the need of the hour. He said the aim is to create consensus among all parties on political issues, adding that personal interests have been set aside and national duty placed first.
