The UAE's General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat has announced a significant change to the Friday sermon and prayer schedule across the UAE, introducing a unified national timing that will take effect on Friday, January 2, 2026.
Under the new directive, all mosques in the UAE will begin the Friday sermon and prayer at 12:45pm, ensuring a consistent schedule for worshippers throughout the country.
Worshippers urged to arrive early
The authority called on residents to arrive at mosques ahead of time to avoid missing any part of the sermon. Officials emphasized the importance of punctual attendance, noting that early arrival allows worshippers to gain the full spiritual reward associated with the weekly congregational prayer.
Unity and better organisation
The decision aims to standardise Friday prayer timings nationwide, helping improve coordination across mosques and ensuring that worshippers -- regardless of emirate -- follow a uniform schedule.
Authorities say the updated timing also supports better organisation within the religious sector and reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to enhancing community experience at places of worship.
