The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a formal NOC to the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) for the acquisition of a private telecom company.
According to details, the NOC was granted to PTCL after a full review of all relevant rules and regulations, the PTA said. The transaction’s impact on market competition and consumer interests was examined, the PTA stated.
The PTA said that the consultations were also held with the concerned government bodies to meet all legal requirements. The PTCL may now proceed with the completion of the legal and commercial processes, the PTA added.
Both companies are required to maintain service continuity and quality during the transition, the PTA added. Both companies must also ensure full compliance with all licence conditions, the PTA said.
Strict monitoring of the entire process will be carried out to safeguard consumer rights, the PTA announcement stated.
