Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said that the Indian government must uphold tolerance and equal civic rights.
According to details, Andrabi issued a message on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of Babri Mosque's demolition. Andrabi said: “Babri Mosque is part of our collective memory. The demolition of the historic mosque continues to cause deep grief and concern.”
He said that the protection of religious heritage and sacred sites is a shared responsibility of the global community, adding that any disrespect to a place of worship violates the principles of religious equality.
The FO spokesperson said that it severely damages trust and mutual respect among different communities, saying that following the demolition of the Babri Mosque, Indian Muslims continue to face persistent harassment.
He said that extremist elements in India, under official patronage, are making life difficult for minorities. The FO added that the international community must take practical measures to protect Muslim religious heritage.
Andrabi maintained that Pakistan is determined to protect the rights and religious freedoms of all its minorities.
