Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Sunday that the constitution now stood reduced to a 'toy'.
Addressing a gathering in Mardan, he said that members of the assembly were bought to create a two‑thirds majority for the 27th amendment and that the amendment passed on the basis of a 'fabricated' majority.
He said the country’s economy lay in ruins and that his struggle rested on an ideological position. He called on the government to grant the public its rights.
He said Pakistan and Afghanistan must reconsider their approach, adding that he sought a country with peace, where citizens could breathe freely.
