The outgoing Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) said that a strong national defence is an essential requirement for national security in a changing geostrategic environment.
A farewell ceremony in honour of General Sahir Shamshad Mirza took place at the Joint Staff Headquarters. On this occasion, personnel from all three armed services have presented a guard of honour to him. Former Chairmen Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and senior officers of the armed forces also attend the event.
In his address, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza offered thanks to the Allah Almighty for the strength to discharge his duties with diligence and professional competence. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of the armed forces for the protection of the motherland, saluting the families of martyrs and veterans.
General Mirza said that the defence of Pakistan was impregnable, adding that the country’s officers and soldiers stand ready at all times to strengthen that defence.
