Clerics agreed to enforce uniform azan and congregational prayer timings in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as the Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs reached key decisions on the system of salat.
According to details surfaced on Tuesday, all mosques in the twin cities will follow the same schedule, and the ministry will issue a calendar of azan and prayer times.
The clerics also agreed to prepare a list of themes for Friday sermons. According to the ministry’s spokesperson, the sermons will focus on unity of the ummah, reform of society and guidance for the younger generation. Joint recommendations will cover mosque administration, security and managerial matters, and the ministry will supervise their implementation.
The spokesperson stated that necessary legislation will follow in order to strengthen the system of salat.
