Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Tuesday.Pakistan cannot ignore the statement of the Indian Army Chief and India may launch an attack across the border,
Expressing his thoughts on Samaa TV "Nadeem Malik Live", Asif said that Afghanistan carries out incursions and India plays a role in them. He said Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iran, China and other states want an end to cross-border intrusion into Pakistan. He added that Afghanistan has become a haven for terrorists.
He maintained India does not want Pakistan and Afghanistan to resolve their issues. He said Pakistan may become engaged on two fronts and, in such a situation, India may avoid the risk of war. He said many remind India of its past humiliation. He said that Pakistan cannot trust India in any form and India may also attempt an attack across the border.
Asif said Pakistan must become part of international forces on Gaza. He said Pakistan does not plan to enter the Abraham Accords and its position on the Accords is entirely clear. He added that Pakistan cannot alter its stance until a two-state solution is in place.
He said the federal government will not reduce the provinces’ share in the NFC Award. He said provinces will be asked to contribute to defence and debt.
He was of the view that the family planning is a vital issue, adding that the rapid population growth is like a ticking bomb. He said dishonesty occurred with the 18th Amendment and politicians in the four provincial capitals hold the powers. He said the most powerful institution in Pakistan is the bureaucracy and, until that power moves to elected representatives, no issue will be resolved. He said he has no knowledge of any trial of Faiz Hameed.
