Pakistan has acknowledged recent clarifications issued by the Arbitration Court regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, following its request for dispute resolution against India.
The Foreign Office confirmed that court proceedings will continue in a phased manner.
The Arbitration Court recently issued decisions on the general interpretation of its agreement, which Pakistan described as “useful clarification” in the context of ongoing proceedings.
Additionally, a procedural order accompanying the decision has been duly noted by Pakistan, according to the Foreign Office spokesperson.
Proceedings to continue despite India’s absence
The Arbitration Court will take into account ongoing proceedings before the impartial expert, which were initially started at India’s request. Pakistan confirmed it is participating fully in these proceedings in good faith.
The next phase of the impartial expert proceedings is scheduled to be held in Vienna from November 17 to 21.
India, however, has decided not to appear before the impartial expert. The spokesperson emphasized that India’s absence will not hinder the continuation of proceedings.
