The security forces foiled an infiltration attempt by Indian-sponsored terrorists from across the Afghan border into North Waziristan, killing three in two separate operations, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed.
The operations on November 2 were part of Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under Vision “Azm-e-Istehkam”, aimed at eliminating foreign-sponsored terrorist networks operating inside the country.
According to the ISPR, a group of Indian-backed terrorists attempted to infiltrate through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border opposite Esham area of North Waziristan district. The movement was detected early through surveillance systems, prompting an immediate response from security forces.
“Troops effectively engaged this group of Khawarij, and as a result of precise and skillful action, two militants belonging to Indian proxy network Fitna al-Khawarij were killed,” the ISPR said.
One of the slain terrorists was identified as Qasim, an Afghan national who was serving in the Afghan Border Police.
Second operation in Tank
In a separate intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in Tank district, security forces successfully neutralized another militant, identified as Ikramuddin alias Abu Dujana, also an Afghan national and a member of Fitna al-Khawarij.
The ISPR stated that the militant was killed in a swift and targeted action following credible intelligence about his presence in the area.
“These incidents reveal the continued involvement of Afghan nationals in numerous terrorist activities against innocent civilians and security forces inside Pakistan,” the ISPR said.
The ISPR reiterated that Pakistan has repeatedly asked the Interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management and prevent the use of Afghan soil for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
“It is expected that the Afghan government will fulfill its obligations and not allow Khawarij to use its territory for terrorism inside Pakistan,” the statement emphasized.
Counter-terror campaign continues
Security forces have launched sanitization operations in North Waziristan to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored militants in the area. The ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces remain resolute and unwavering in defending the nation’s frontiers.
Under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” campaign, approved by the federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, Pakistan’s security and law enforcement agencies are continuing relentless counter-terrorism efforts to eradicate foreign-backed militancy from the country.
“The operations will continue at full pace until the menace of terrorism is completely wiped out,” the ISPR concluded.
