With winter setting in, the Punjab Education Department has revised school working hours to address cold weather and smog concerns.
Starting tomorrow, all schools in Punjab will begin classes at 8:45 am, with the teaching day ending at 1:30 pm, the Education Department confirmed.
This adjustment comes as part of measures to make schooling safer and more convenient during colder months.
The department cited multiple factors behind the decision, including the cold weather, smog conditions, and the overall convenience of students. Punjab Education Minister also shared the updated school timings on social media to ensure widespread awareness among parents and students.
Smog situation
Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb clarified that, despite the smog, no lockdowns or school closures have been imposed this year.
She highlighted that air quality monitors are operational across Punjab, with efforts ongoing to improve air conditions for both the province and the wider region.
The minister also appealed to the public for cooperation in maintaining cleaner air and supporting government initiatives to safeguard public health.
