Pakistan and Poland have resolved to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
According to details, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski held a meeting. The joint declaration said that both countries agreed to enhance mutual support in international institutions and to promote parliamentary engagement.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to regional and global peace, stability and economic prosperity. They also agreed to expand cooperation between their armed forces and defence industries and to arrange training programmes. According to the Foreign Office, Sikorski’s two-day visit to Pakistan marked an important step towards strengthening diplomatic relations and promoting mutual cooperation.
A memorandum of understanding was signed to enhance collaboration between the two foreign ministries, while the signing of an MoU between Pakistani and Polish think tanks to encourage policy dialogue was welcomed. It was agreed that political consultations at a high level would be held annually.
The Foreign Office said the Polish side presented its position on the war in Ukraine, while Pakistan set out its stance on the Kashmir issue. Both sides underlined the need for peaceful resolution of disputes in line with the UN Charter and international law. They agreed to cooperate for peace and stability in South Asia, Europe and other regions. Joint efforts to address the challenges of climate change and to promote environment-friendly technologies were also emphasised.
The declaration also included an understanding on exchanging experience in public finance management, tax reforms and financial governance.
Both countries condemned terrorism in all its forms and agreed that no state should provide shelter to terrorists. The visiting delegation invited Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to pay an official visit to Poland.
