A crocodile entered the swimming pool of a luxury hotel in Australia, surprising guests and staff alike.
A video from the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort in Port Douglas, Queensland, has gone viral on social media. The footage shows a small crocodile resting calmly in the hotel’s swimming pool.
The video was shared on Instagram by a user named Lisa Keller. In the clip, she can be heard saying that she does not wish to alarm anyone, but there is a crocodile in the Sheraton pool.
Several tourists can be seen lounging around the poolside in the footage.
According to hotel manager Joseph Amirio, the crocodile was spotted on Saturday morning. The area remained under observation until officers from Queensland’s Department of Wildlife removed the animal from the pool.
It is estimated that northern Australia is home to more than 100,000 saltwater and freshwater crocodiles.
