A firing incident during a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) election rally in Tangir, GBA-18 Diamer 4 constituency, has claimed a second life after an injured person died while undergoing treatment in hospital.
The incident occurred amid ongoing election campaigning in Gilgit-Baltistan, where political parties are making final efforts ahead of polling.
According to rescue sources, one of the injured individuals succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital. Police confirmed that the latest death has raised the total number of fatalities in the incident to two.
The development comes two days after the firing incident took place during a PML-N election rally in Tangir.

How incident unfolded
Reports indicate that workers engaged in aerial firing during the political gathering. During the firing, a young man reportedly died on the spot after his weapon slipped from his hand and discharged.

Three other people were injured in the incident and were shifted to hospital for medical treatment. One of those injured later passed away, increasing the death toll.
Election campaign continues
The incident occurred as election activities continue across Gilgit-Baltistan ahead of the upcoming polls. Political parties have been actively holding rallies, meetings and public gatherings as campaigning enters its final phase.
The firing incident has raised concerns over safety and compliance with election-related security regulations.
Police officials said Section 144 is already in force across Diamer district. Authorities have also imposed a ban on the display and carrying of weapons in the area.
Despite these restrictions, the firing incident occurred during the political rally.

According to police, efforts are continuing to trace and arrest those responsible for the firing. Officials said a search operation is underway to locate the accused involved in the incident.
