The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have agreed to continue working together as before.
A PPP delegation, led by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for one hour. The prime minister gave assurance regarding the PPP's concerns. Both parties agreed to resume cooperation. Following the meeting at the Prime Minister’s House, the PPP delegation departed without speaking to the media.
Senior figures including Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah, Malik Ahmed Khan, Ahad Khan Cheema, Nayyar Bukhari, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Nadeem Afzal Chan and Sherry Rehman attended the high-level meeting. According to sources, the political situation and matters concerning allied parties were discussed. The PPP's reservations regarding the Punjab government were raised. After the Prime Minister's assurance, it was agreed that no statements would be made against each other’s parties.
Earlier, the PPP delegation also met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The discussion covered the local government elections in Punjab and related concerns of the PPP.
According to the official statement, the Prime Minister said that the PPP is a coalition partner, and their relationship is viewed with respect and dignity. The PPP delegation commended the Prime Minister for Pakistan’s role in the Gaza peace agreement. The meeting addressed the overall political situation in the country.
Those present at the meeting included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, National Food Security Minister Rana Tanvir Hussain, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.
Federal Minister Rana Mubashar Iqbal, Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, and Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan were also in attendance. The PPP delegation comprised Raja Pervez Ashraf, Sherry Rehman, Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Nadeem Afzal Chan and Ali Qasim Gilani.
