Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday strongly condemned Afghanistan’s unprovoked aggression along multiple border areas, reaffirming that Pakistan will continue to safeguard its national security and territorial sovereignty at all costs.
PM Shehbaz praised the Pakistan Army’s professional and effective response, which reportedly resulted in the destruction of several Afghan border posts and the capture of 19 key positions.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Sharif said Pakistan is “proud of the professionalism of its armed forces,” who gave a “strong and fearless response under the leadership of the Field Marshal” to Afghan provocations.
“The Pakistan Army has once again proven that our defense is in strong hands. We know how to protect our borders and secrets very well,” the Prime Minister said.

He further asserted that there would be no compromise on national defense, adding that “every provocation will be met with a strong and effective reply.”

President Zardari reaffirms Pakistan’s sovereignty
President Asif Ali Zardari also issued a statement, declaring that Pakistan remains fully committed to protecting its national interests and sovereignty.
“Pakistan will never accept any controversial or misleading position on Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, reiterating that the country’s stance on territorial integrity remains unchanged.
19 Afghan posts captured as Taliban fighters flee
Earlier in the day, security officials confirmed that the Pakistan Army launched a decisive retaliatory operation after Afghan forces opened unprovoked fire across several border locations, including Angoor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Chitral, and Baramcha.
The military’s counteroffensive destroyed multiple Afghan positions, forcing enemy troops to flee and abandon their posts, leaving behind bodies and equipment.
Video footage released from Bajaur and Kurram shows flames engulfing Afghan positions, while Pakistani border units continued targeted strikes against militant hideouts.
“Our posts were already on high alert. The response was swift, coordinated, and effective,” a senior security official said.
