Chinese Premier Li Qiang has said that the world is entering a period of fresh upheaval and change, where unilateral approaches and a Cold War mindset are re-emerging.
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly, he emphasised the need to respect the legitimate security concerns of all countries. He said that China would continue to take a constructive part in advancing political solutions to major conflicts.
He urged that differences and disputes should be settled peacefully through dialogue and consultation. He said that only in a genuinely multilateral world can the rights and interests of all parties be safeguarded.
On the issue of climate change, he described it as one of the greatest challenges confronting humanity. He expressed confidence in the ability to sustain economic development and contribute to global economic growth. He called for efforts to identify and widen areas of shared interest.
