Parliamentary affairs have begun to suffer following resignations by opposition members from standing committees.
According to the National Assembly Secretariat, the Speaker’s Office has received resignations from 47 PTI members, resulting in the suspension of committee activities.
Sources said the government has once again reached out to opposition leaders. Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry contacted the PTI Chairman and the chief whip, requesting the withdrawal of resignations.
The government has conveyed to the opposition that the current national circumstances require collective effort. Reconciliation and a joint strategy on national matters are being presented as necessary.
Chaudhry said all stakeholders must move forward together on issues of national importance.
