Pakistan’s recent diplomatic campaign has opened a new chapter in relations with the United States, with The Washington Post calling it one of Islamabad’s most effective foreign policy moves in recent years.
Washington Post praises Pakistan’s diplomacy
In a detailed report, the American daily highlighted how Pakistan has quietly but effectively fostered closer ties with Washington amid shifting global dynamics. It described Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s landmark visit to the US as “a symbol of a new dimension” in Pak-US relations.

The paper noted that at the start of Donald Trump’s second term, Pakistan successfully navigated challenges to strengthen cooperation with the White House.
Counterterrorism and regional peace
According to The Washington Post, the United States praised Pakistan’s robust counterterrorism measures, which paved the way for Washington to designate the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) as a global terrorist organisation.

The paper also underlined that US-Pakistan ties gained further momentum following the recent ceasefire with India, reinforcing Islamabad’s role in promoting regional stability.

Beyond security, the report pointed to growing economic engagement. Pakistan has offered the US partnerships in developing cryptocurrency projects, tapping mineral resources, and exploring its vast oil reserves.

President Trump has also expressed interest in investing in multiple sectors of Pakistan’s economy. Furthermore, Washington granted Pakistan one of the lowest tariffs among major Asian economies, standing at just 19% -- an achievement credited to Islamabad’s diplomatic outreach.
