Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder has proposed Mahmood Khan Achakzai as the opposition leader in the National Assembly, according to party sources.
During a recent meeting with Advocate Ali Bukhari, the PTI founder suggested Achakzai’s name, saying he would be suitable under the current political circumstances.
It is pertinent to note that the final decision would be made by the party’s political committee.
For the Senate, the PTI founder advised reviewing the names of Azam Swati and Ali Zafar, noting that Swati, being a senior figure, would be appropriate, sources added.
On the question of Punjab’s opposition leader, the PTI founder directed the party to propose six to seven names for review before a final recommendation is made.
The founder has also left the decision on whether to contest upcoming by-elections to the political committee. According to party sources, all key decisions will be presented before the committee and finalized through mutual consultation.
Meanwhile, the Peshawar High Court has issued a stay order against removing the current opposition leaders in the National Assembly and Senate.
