The implementation of the government’s proposed new solar policy has once again been halted. According to sources in the Power Division, the Prime Minister has directed a pause on enforcing the policy.
This marks the second time the Prime Minister has returned a solar net metering policy sent by the Power Division. The Prime Minister has instructed that consultation with all stakeholders must take place before granting final approval.
Power Division had proposed reducing the buyback rate for solar net metering from Rs. 27 per unit to Rs. 11 per unit, a move that has raised serious concerns among various stakeholders.
