The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, convened a crucial meeting to review complaints filed against members of the judiciary.
The council unanimously disposed of 19 out of 24 complaints filed by various individuals, while five were deferred for further consideration.
The meeting was attended by Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Alia Neelam, and Sindh High Court Chief Justice Junaid Ghaffar. Senior Supreme Court judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah joined the proceedings via video link.
According to an official statement, the council thoroughly examined the complaints and, after careful deliberation, decided to dismiss 19 of them unanimously. The remaining five were postponed temporarily, with decisions expected after additional legal scrutiny.
The Supreme Judicial Council Secretariat Service Rules 2025 were formally approved during the session. These rules are expected to enhance the efficiency and operational clarity of the Council's Secretariat.
However, two key agenda items — proposals related to amendments in the judicial code of conduct and the inquiry procedure for judges — were deferred. The council stated that these matters require more detailed examination from a legal and drafting perspective before any final decision is taken.
