A reference has been prepared against 26 members of the opposition in connection with the ruckus that occurred during a speech by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in the Punjab Assembly.
The Punjab Assembly Secretariat finalised the reference after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members disrupted proceedings during the chief minister’s address. The reference, which includes all necessary documents and evidence, is set to be submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan tomorrow (Thursday).
Among the evidence enclosed is a verdict by former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, supporting the case against the accused members.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan has imposed a temporary ban on the entry of these 26 opposition members into the Punjab Assembly due to their disorderly conduct.
Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly Secretary Aamir Habib has arrived in Islamabad to file the reference and is scheduled to meet the chief election commissioner tomorrow.
