The Punjab Assembly approved on Thursday the budget for the fiscal year 2025–26, amounting to over Rs5.3 trillion, along with the Finance Bill 2025–26, by a majority vote.
The House sanctioned 41 demands for grants exceeding Rs4,306 billion across various departments, while all eight cut motions submitted by the opposition were rejected.
The provincial government has allocated Rs258 billion for health, Rs137 billion for education, Rs200 billion for police, and over Rs910 billion for development projects.

During the session, exchanges occurred between the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly and opposition members.
The Punjab finance minister, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, presented four bills, including the Punjab Autism School and Resource Centre Bill 2025 and an amendment bill aimed at controlling the prices of essential items. All bills were passed by the House.
Upon completion of the agenda, Deputy Speaker Zaheer Iqbal Channar adjourned the session until 2 pm on Friday.
