Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a key meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) on Monday to review the escalating tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel, as well as the shifting regional landscape.
Sources divulged on Sunday, the high-level meeting, chaired by the prime minister, will be attended by federal ministers, military leadership, and other senior officials.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to assess the growing geopolitical friction between Iran, the US and Israel, and its potential implications for regional stability.
Sources said that Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir will brief the participants on his recent visit to the United States, during which he met with US President Donald Trump.
Decisions were also expected on key matters such as support for Iran, the country’s internal and border security and other significant national concerns.
Defence minister, interior minister, deputy prime minister, finance minister and other relevant officials were also expected to participate in the meeting.
Sources said that counterterrorism measures and border security will be a major focus, in view of potential external threats to national security.
