Four years after the harrowing murder of Noor Mukadam shocked the nation, Pakistan’s Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence for Zahir Jaffer, bringing a measure of justice to the high-profile case.
Noor Mukadam, daughter of a former Pakistani ambassador, was brutally murdered on July 21, 2021, in Islamabad. Zahir Jaffer, son of a wealthy businessman, was found guilty of her gruesome murder after Noor allegedly refused his marriage proposal. According to the police investigation, Zahir locked her in a room, assaulted her, and ultimately beheaded her with the help of his household staff.

In February 2022, the Islamabad Sessions Court sentenced Zahir to death, a verdict he later challenged. Today, the Supreme Court dismissed his appeal and upheld the original ruling, reinforcing the justice system’s commitment to accountability.

The decision sparked emotional reactions across Pakistan, especially from celebrities who had been vocal about the case. Several actresses shared the “Justice for Noor” post on their Instagram stories, including Minal Khan, Aiman Khan, Komal Meer, Kinza Hashmi, Hania Aamir, Hajra Yamin, and Mariam Nafees.

Actress Mawra Hocane wrote simply, “Noor got justice.” Dananeer Mobeen posted a strong message: “No punishment will ever be enough for this monster. Rest in peace, Noor.” Actress Sana Javed added, “Finally, the verdict we’ve all been waiting for.”
Mahira Khan responded with a single dove emoji—a symbol of peace—signifying the emotional weight of the verdict.
The official Justice for Noor page shared, “This isn’t just a legal ruling. It’s a powerful reminder that women’s lives matter, their voices will be heard, and their stories will not be silenced. This verdict is for every woman in Pakistan.”
