A Sikh couple was shot dead by unidentified suspects near Khwaja Ganj Bazar in Babu Mohalla Gurdwara area, police said.
A large contingent of police reached the scene soon after the incident and launched an investigation.
According to police, the shooting took place in the Khwaja Ganj Bazar area near Babu Mohalla Gurdwara in Mardan. The Sikh couple was killed in the firing, while the suspects involved in the attack managed to flee from the scene.
Police launch search operation
Police said a search operation has been started to trace and arrest the suspects. Investigators are collecting evidence from the crime scene and looking into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
A murder case has been registered at the CTD Police Station against unidentified suspects under terrorism and murder charges. The FIR was registered on the complaint of the brother-in-law of the slain gurdwara administrator Jagannath.
According to the police, an unidentified armed assailant entered the gurdwara and opened fire. Gurdwara administrator Jagannath and his wife were killed in the shooting incident.
