The diplomatic sources said on Thursday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has cancelled his planned visit to Switzerland.
Sources said the decision came after the electronic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding was completed in Islamabad, and the implementation phase of the agreement has begun.
The diplomatic sources stated that the electronic signatures on the Islamabad MoU have been finalised, leaving no further requirement for the visit. Officials said Pakistan’s main objective was to provide a mutually agreed framework between United States and Iran and to create space for easing tensions, which has now been achieved.
The United States and Iran have signed the Islamabad framework, with Pakistan acting as mediator in the arrangement.
Sources said the agreement has now entered the implementation stage, with technical talks expected in the next phase, covering sanctions relief, maritime security, nuclear matters, verification mechanisms, and phased execution.
Diplomatic sources added that Islamabad did not merely provide formal hosting but helped shape a comprehensive framework, which will now be further developed at expert level.
They said the agreement remains active and Pakistan continues to play an active role in its effective implementation, while four working groups are to be formed for continued dialogue between the United States and Iran.
